A Loving Match

Showing love is an essential part of love. As the old saying goes, "Love isn't love until you give it away". I believe that love needs to be both spoken and shown. I believe one goes with the other, creating the complete and total package, leaving no room for doubt. Such as love is, it needs to be expressed.

June 6th, Bill & I marked our 33rd wedding anniversary. Long before we married, we were platonic friends. However, even then we had a mutual love and respect for each other. We listened to each other, sharing thoughts, ideas, and time together. When we parted, he would kiss me on the check and we would hug. We loved each other as friends.

Even now, all of these years later, we still find ways to show our love. We always tell each other; every day we say it several times. It is important to verbalize it, and it is important to hear it. We say it, email it, and text it. It is important to both of us to say it and to hear it. The words are reassuring, especially when it is all you have at the time. With Bill being an over the road trucker, those words are what keep us going until we can be together again.

Of course, we show our love in many ways. The support Bill has given me throughout my health issues has been  invaluable to me. I could not do it without his love and support. The cost, logistics, and the various physical limitations this has put upon me and our lives has been extremely hard. Yet, Bill is always there for me, telling me that I can do this, we can do this. Knowing I have his love and support motivates me to keep going. Knowing he believes in me makes me feel loved, and makes me want to make sure he feels loved and appreciated, in return.

I have always made it a priority to show and tell him he is loved. I support whatever he does, be it career, hobby, professional or personal. I believe in him. I tell him, and I show him in whatever way I can. That's what love does; it makes you want to be and do more for the other person. It is the little things and the big things. It is both. Loving means being there in the way that the other needs you to be, even when it may be inconvenient or difficult.

Love is about saying it and showing it, bringing it full circle, leaving no doubt. I need to do both, and I appreciate when both are returned. This holds true because love is a gift...the greatest one to give and to receive.

We believe that God made this match. we continue to match our love, too. Bill and I celebrated our 33rd anniversary on June 6th, 2014. This post was originally published June 2012, for our 31st anniversary. I have revised it here.

Fill In Fun #167

The "Follow Friday Four Fill-In" is hosted by Hilary at Feeling Beachie . Each week, she posts statement with blanks. Our mission, should we choose to accept, is to copy the statement and fill in the blanks on our blogs. Then link up to her blog for sharing. Hilary is always looking for co-hosts and more statements for us to fill in. Please visit her, and let her know your suggestions!

I am still on the road with Bill, so am late again for Friday Fill In Fun. I will be back to a normal schedule in a couple of weeks. Trucking is hectic, but interesting. Seeing America in its natural state of being is amazing.

The statements & My Answers:

1. Trucking is an interesting experience. Every day is an adventure! You see things and people in their natural element. There is no gloss or glitz to shade or hide things. It is a view of America’s true grit.

2. Do you ever wonder if mankind will ever learn from past mistakes? Both in positions of power and in personal life, man tends to repeat mistakes made. He is then doomed to repeat them, again and again. Sadly, the cycle continues.

3. When I relax I often listen to music because music enhances everything. The kind of music and/or artist changes with my mood or situation. I listen to classic country, rock, folk, blues, blue grass, and other classic genres. I am pretty traditional, and prefer the older styles that I can relate to.

4. The one food I only eat in a restaurant is calamari because it is a convenient and fun way to get something different. I love seafood. Certain things, like calamari, are “treats” when I eat out on special occasions.

Stella on Break

Trucking is not only a busy and chaotic occupation, it is also a tiring and hectic lifestyle. Even Stella had to get used to the long hours. Each day and night is uniquely different. Thankfully, Stella does well and loves all of it! However, she makes sure to get her rest in, too. She really appreciates her sleep after a long shift.

Fire & Rain

I apologize for being late in joining Brenda at BYG Adventures for the weekly "Pondering". I am still on the road with Bill and Stella. Blogging doesn't always fit into trucking schedules, unfortunately. However, I enjoy Brenda and "pondering" with her.

As a poet, music speaks to me. As soon as I saw the word prompt, this song came to mind. It is a longtime  favourite of mine. Please forgive me and enjoy my response to this week's prompt, "Fire".

Fill In Fun #166

The "Follow Friday Four Fill-In" is hosted by Hilary at Feeling Beachie . Each week, she posts statement with blanks. Our mission, should we choose to accept, is to copy the statement and fill in the blanks on our blogs. Then link up to her blog for sharing. The statements & My Answers:

1 “Today” is the best time to “take care of business”. It is always best to take care of whatever “must” be done as soon as possible, leaving precious time for the things that are more fulfilling (and usually more fun). Procrastination is a thief, stealing precious time that can never be returned to us. Of course, our loved ones should always come first in all things.

2. I believe the best is yet to be. If we can only hang on through life’s rough waters, there will be fair winds and following seas. That is the nature of life. Love is the beacon. Our loved ones are buoys to hold onto, to help us through stormy seas.

3. I feel ambivalent about sports. I love some sports and dislike others. I especially enjoy football and NASCAR, and enthusiastically follow both. I cannot get excited about basketball, soccer, wrestling or boxing though.

4. Life is better with critters. In fact, I cannot imagine Life without them!
