"Conquer"

The taunting, insults, and judgments had gone on her whole life it seemed. She had fought them, and then tried to ignore their words and assaults. Eventually she gave up, knowing she would never fit into their mold or be like them.

Ultimately, she decided that she no longer cared to conquer them. She finally realized it was more important to conquer herself.

  2. This is a great example of how we wish others would change and in reality we can't change anyone other than ourselves. We are all unique and to find someone exactly like ourselves is very remote.

Have a great weekend and I hope the sun is shining for you today.

  6. The very best use of the word conquer is to conquer ourselves! She was wise to realize that she did not have to own their opinions of her, or try to be like them. Excellent, thought provoking piece!

  10. Another great "short" short story. Mom thinks you are so perceptive and talented to convey a complete story using the five-sentence constraint. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Misty May, Mauricio, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
