Place

She watches the day
become the night,
holding her in place.
The darkness hides
the colours of the day,
making what she feels
more real.
She knows that dreams
hide in shadows;
it is there that she
has a place, and
can conquer herself,
if not the world.

  19. McG, conquering ourselves is indeed the hardest part of navigating our universe. Those pesky dreams in the shadows... waiting to be fully realized in sleep and then in life. Beautiful. Amy

  25. Night is definitely the time of clarity when all is black and white. It is when I do my best pondering on life and find my most honest awareness of myself. This was a beautiful poem! I too am one who prefers the shadows.
