Adopt a Cat

June is
"Adopt a Cat"
month!

Whether you celebrate it with the Humane Society,
the ASPCA, a shelter, or a rescue organization
it's all about cats & finding them permanent homes.
There are many cats of all ages, sizes, and colours
just waiting for you and a "forever home".
Please remember to consider your lifestyle
and the needs of the cat when adopting.
Love is a commitment & a privilege.

  3. Cats are such beautiful creatures! I am really allergic to cats...so can't have one, but they are fun to watch them move so gracefully isn't it?!!! Your cats are sure pretty! And I like your Sheltie too. We used to have a Sheltie named Poco. We loved him for 12 years until he went to doggie heaven!

    Have a Happy Saturday!

  6. Love me some kitties...but we're actually planning to adopt a dog sometime in the next 6mos, so a cat will have to wait for a while. Next year, perhaps :)

  7. Our Oreo is playing with a mouse right now...she doesn't seem to know how to get rid of it. My husband will have to do that for her. ;)

  8. I'm highly allergic to cats, but if I wasn't I'd be a cat lady. Yes I would.

    Have a terrific day. :)

  10. Beautiful picture, purrfect post! One of our sweetest memories is the day we adopted Sophie from the local shelter. They even arranged to meet us there at a special time since we couldn't get there during their regular hours. I picked Sophie up out of the little basket where she was curled in the corner of a wire-enclosed room with a dozen or so other cats, she looked up at me, blinked, and sweetly licked my hand as if to say "please take me home"! She has proven to be the sweetest, most gentle cat we've ever known and we love her dearly! Definitely ADOPT, don't shop!!

  13. kids are driving me several shades of crazy right now for a pet. I am weakening because I grew up with all kinds of animals (farm) so I would love them to have a pet and form that bond as they grow. Hubby is steadfast though.
I think I can wear him down over the summer and hopefully by the time September arrives and all our vacation time is done: we will be bringing some little furry loveable home.

  15. I'd love to adopt another cat, but my own cat is a crazy psycho girl who doesn't understand why anyone else should get my attention - apart from that, she's a pussycat. ;-)

  17. I'm about to go down, down, down in your estimation, Ann, but I'm really not a cat person. Fortunately, many are. I would rather sponsor a child. :)

  18. Very nice. Unfortunately I am allergic so I don't think we'd be doing that any time soon. Though maybe if we could find one of the hypoallergenic ones... :)
    Happy 6WS!

  19. My cats have always come from shelters and some of the stories of abuse as to how they ended up in the sanctuaries break your heart. I hear now there are organisations and charities in Britain that will help those on low income pay vet bills and even deliver free food if you're willing to give a cat a loving home.

  25. I guess I've always been one to be early - we adopted towards the end of May. June is a good month for this observance with all the new kitties being born about this time. Ours are developing their level of trust day by day and we figure by the time we hit our first week anniversary they will rule the house. They actually did the minute they walked in, but they don't seem to realize it yet.

    1. You did well...two! Yes, April through October is "kitten season". So many need homes. I wish people would be more responsible and spay/neuter. I am also an advocate of keeping them safely inside.

  26. Many years ago when I lived with my dad, our neighbors asked us to adopt a dog who needed a home. He was a senior and lived only three years but became my best friend. Since then, I have become a firm believer in adoption. Two of my guinea pigs were adopted. My cat is a stray who found a home with me. She is also incidentally an indoor cat. And my husband and I act as foster parents to dogs when needed. Alas, there are still hundreds of animals who need homes.
