Song-ography: "One"

"One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do."
-Three Dog Night

As a long-haul trucker, Bill sees a lot of life,
all raw and unfiltered. Much of it can be difficult.
He says you never get used to it, though
you do the best you can to deal with it.
You use your head, but you can still
follow your heart...which is what he did.

Bill had stopped at a "rest stop" on I-20,
near Ruston, Louisiana. There he met this
beautiful, very alone and pregnant stray cat.
She was obviously hungry, but fearful of people.
She would not let anyone close enough to touch her.
Undeterred & determined to offer her a meal,
Bill went through his own food supply.
Finding a tin of skinless sardines, he
approached her carefully with the fish.
For one meal, one lonely, hungry and
expectant cat was fed by one lonely trucker
who cared enough to reach out to her.
One can make a difference, even a small one...
because it matters.

  1. What a neat story. I love it when someone stretches past their busyness to help someone - in this case, a sweet fur friend. Love it!

    1. Bill always takes the time to help one in need, whether it is a human or an animal. That is the kind of person he is, and I love him for it.

  2. I am not familiar with this meme, but may have to look into it. With the prompt given I would have come up with Three Dog Night's song. I love the group! I love the song! Thanks for stopping by this morning. We would love to have you join us on the dance floor next week, if you can. ;) Have a tunetastic day!

    1. It is sad. These critters haunt us. She would not let anyone touch her, but Bill did what he could do for her. She is in God's hands, now. I trust that He will care for her.

  5. Bill sounds like a real sweetheart. Too many people will always claim to be "too busy" to avoid getting involved. You have yourself a good man...but then you already knew that.

    1. Yes, Queenie, Bill is one-of-a-kind. We have been best friends for almost 37 years (married almost 33). We have done a lot of rescues over the years. He wished he could have done more here, but he did what he could. If everyone did, we would all benefit.

Awesome act of caring and love.

  8. Well, you did it again ... tears. This is beautiful and sad and I wonder if there are others out there who will do for her and her babies. Breaks my heart ... but thank you Bill for her moment of hope. Oh, I hate how this makes me feel about her ...

    1. She is feral. She would not allow anyone to touch her, and only Bill got close. There are so many out there; he sees so much. Yet he is always moved.
