    1. Indeed. Every time I clean up, the sky rains, the wind blows, and I have to start all over. *sigh*

  2. Is it really spring or a longer winter?

    1. You might be on to something there. Winter started early, and it doesn't seem to want to go away.

  3. EEEEK ... don't remind me. So much to do and if it doesn't get warm soon it won't matter if we get our flower beds cleared. I think, at this point, I would prefer to be spring cleaning ... I am sick of putting layers on to go outside :) Timely choice, McGuffy ...

  4. I'm letting landevolution do it's thing this year. I plan only on sitting on the deck, watching it happen.

  5. It sure is! Good luck and enjoy. Your mess looks just like mine! I've cleaned out some areas already, and now the weather is going to turn into super drenching rain, and colder! So if seems, we just can't win around here, yet!

    1. I wanted to get it as clean as possible before the rains come. It just needs to be burned off now.

  6. That's why I let my husband take care of our very small lot. I don't do bugs! I love your new blog header! Your babies are adorable!

  7. My husband just finished doing the spring clean up in the yard last week. He had a little help from the teen grandsons...and it looks so nice now! Looking forward to the roses when they bloom and the pretty trees and flowers!

    Happy Saturday!

  8. I am so glad we moved from huge garden to pocket handkerchief-size! We had hail and a gale this afternoon, but the sun's come back now.

  9. I just look up at the blossom and ignore the rest, Ann. Trouble is, the blossom doesn't stay up there for long enough. Must be time for a cuppa! :)

    1. I want to make sure everything is uncovered, so it will all grow. The wind and rain keeps coming, and blowing the leaves back. The early snow didn't allow thorough leaf removal.

  11. Leaves, just like snow, are mighty hard to get rid of for good, but I know how beautiful your yard is going to be for all the effort. Bill will be proud of you when he come home!

    1. Snow melts. If leaves melted it would be easier, but alas, they do not. So, I have to rake, compost, and/or burn them. It is hard work.

    1. I do my best, Mimi. Bill is really the gardener/landscaper in the family. I want things nice when he gets home, so I do my best to keep up.

    1. Yes, "Oh my!" I say that every time I look out and see more leaves.

  14. I did a little garden clean up today but the soil is so wet and there's still snow on the path to the compost piles so I can't get to it with the wheelbarrow yet. I'ts a messy job.

    1. It is messy! I waited to clean house, because I knew Stella and I would track the mud and leaves inside. *sigh*

  15. i want to get out and do the stuff i got snowed out over last fall, but between the cold (outer) and the cold (hack hack) inner, ive not see a lot of ambition poking through. A warm day, though and Ill be out there. My tendency would be to cover what you have with hay or grass clippings and call it a compost pile. =)

I do love the border at the top, btw. Beautifully done...

    1. The leaf pile is in what will be the garden. It will get burned, and then rototilled into the soil. I added a lot more leaves! Thanks.

  16. Yep. same mess here. And it keeps raining so I cannot rake up and pack all those leaves and dead grass.
but - not snow! so my complaints are limited for sure. :)

    1. I agree. No snow! At least we are headed toward milder weather!

  17. Don't you know it! I have piles to deal with and uncover, but am waiting for the bulk of the pollen to be done and settled. It is hard enough that I can't talk without coughing right now.

    1. Allergies are bad all over right now. It is one of the cons of Spring, but what would we do without the beauty & benefits (pros) of plants?

  18. That looks like a veggie garden? Mine is a mess. I haven't touched it yet but need to very soon. I should have cool weather veggies in already. Yes, spring clean up is challenging and a chore I hate doing. Hope you got something accomplished. :-)
