Farmhouse Porch Chat #140

I am joining Patrice & Wendell at Everyday Ruralty for their weekly "Farmhouse Porch Chat". It has been moved to Wednesday, so I hope to be able to join in more often. I hope you will come along, too. Don't forget to bring Wendell some carrots; he's a horse!

For Wendell

1. Is there one person who can drive you nuts, even if they aren't doing anything in particular?
Oh, my.  Of course there are, but I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.  I am sure I drive some people nuts, too. It drives me nuts when people check up on me, questioning me, what I do, and why.

2. When you were a small child, how did you answer the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
I wanted to be a veterinarian or a nurse. I actually combined it and was a veterinary technician. I have also done critter rescue most of my life.

3. Do you drink more sodas, iced tea, or water?
I drink a lot of water, followed by iced tea. I very rarely drink soda pop. (I really don’t like carbonation.)

4. My favorite flavor of iced cream is mint chocolate chip.

5. Do you like to dance? I used to like to dance. I haven’t in years, due to arthritis and multiple joint replacements. I enjoy watching others dance, now.

  3. Ann, what a lovely blog you have! I have another friend, whom I also met through blogging, who was very active in Pet Rescue at one time. She has three beautiful Collies as a result of her work. Your Stella is BEAUTIFUL! I am partial to Border Collies. We had our Wilma for 15 years. She passed away two years ago and we've not had the heart to get another dog. I also love cats, but my hubby is more partial to dogs.

I like the way you so tactfully answered #1!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog this evening!

    1. Hi Dianna, nice to meet you! Stella is a bi-black Sheltie. We rescued her a year ago. We have had a few Shelties, a Border Collie/Coyote mix, a lab, a Collie, and several others. I hope you will rescue a critter, when your heart is ready.

  8. It's fun reading your answers. Blessed be the button pushers for they test our patience and make us a more patient and better person. And as you say, none of us are perfect. I wanted to be a dress designer or a policewoman when I grew up. Didn't do either. I drink water all the time, then coffee, a glass of wine when with friends. I don't drink sodas any more. Reese’s peanut butter cup ice-cream. I used to dance way back when but hip and joint problems took care of that.

  9. There will always be people in our lives who make us nuts, and we will always rub at least one person we know the wrong way, it's inevitable. My key for dealing with this is to be kind anyway, and try not to have to interact as often.

    1. I agree, Mimi. I do the same thing with people. It is the right thing, I believe. I don't want to hurt anyone, but I do not like being hurt, either. I try to avoid conflict.

  12. I know for a fact, I drive other people nuts. So, I have no room to judge. lol Working as a Vet tech must be a nice job. I wouldn't like working on scary animals, though. Have a fabulous weekend! ;-)

    1. Scary animals aren't so bad. You have to know what you are dealing with, and respect their space. Putting them under anesthesia is usually tricky but necessary. Then you have to manage your time to minimize the effects. It is worth it to see them come out well.

  13. Very cool that you were able to combine your childhood ambitions and fulfill those dreams in your career!

  14. Your childhood choices are exactly like my daughters. But our school (and my daughter) are weak in the math area and Vet school requires a lot of that. She is a respitory therapist today! :)
Your answers were all great! This is my first visit here, I need to browse around a bit! Have a great day!
