Friday Fill In #163

The "Follow Friday Four Fill-In" is hosted by Hilary at Feeling Beachie. Each week, she posts statement with blanks. Our mission, should we choose to accept, is to copy the statement and fill in the blanks on our blogs. Then link up to her blog for sharing. Hilary is always looking for co-hosts and more statements for us to fill in. Please visit her, and let her know your suggestions!

The statements & My Answers:

1. I wish the Spirit of Christmas would always stay in people’s hearts, permanently, year ‘round.

2. You’ll need a strong power of persuasion when you try to change my mind about something I deeply believe . I am not easily swayed. I need facts and undeniable proof.

3. If I go to a restaurant it must have cleanliness! I do like small town “Mom & Pop” diners, as they are usually really good. “Greasy spoons” are different; those are hit or miss

4. My must have holiday baking treat is fudge. I like homemade fudge, but have never made it. It is a real treat when I have it. The one I always make is fruitcake. It is my own recipe, and people who don’t like fruitcake like it. That is an honour.

Whatever you do this weekend, I hope it is fun!

  1. Fun post. I used to make my own fudge until my old Hamilton Beach mixer died, the one where the top would come off the stand. It was a beast and was perfect for making fudge. :-)

  2. Great fill ins. I have never been able to do something like that. I do love fudge too. Take care and have a great day.

  3. fudge is usually too rich and sweet for me, but darn it, if you cut it into little squares and put it in the freezer, those little bites are so good! :)

    1. That's why I rarely have it. Maybe every couple of years or so, I will have fudge...that is why it is a real treat when I do.

  4. I haven't had fudge in a long time...yum!

    Have a great weekend!

  5. I love fudge- and I do make it for special occasions- super simple peanut butter recipe. But wow- calories galore! I am like you in that I am not easily swayed from my opinions or beliefs. Some people just call me stubborn, but it's much more than that. Have a great weekend!

    1. Yes, I get called names about my unshakable beliefs, but I cannot be moved. You are right. It is much more than that.
Fudge definitely does have to be a rare and precious treat!

  6. Your answers are always thoughtful and I agree, we could use more "Spirit of Christmas". I can also attest to how good your fruitcake is and I am one who doesn't usually like it. I plan to have fun this weekend ... Granddaughter Graduation, doesn't get any better than that. Good post, McGuffy ...

    1. Thank you, Andrea. You are one who has asked me, "Do you always think like that?!" Ha!
Just wait until Granddaughter gets married and then has GreatGrandkids. See, it gets even better!

  7. oh my gosh -- I'm dying over that kitty chasing the mouse on the iPad.

It definitely turns my stomach if I am eating in a restaurant and I notice it is dirty. I mean, I know some "dives" can have really good food -- but a certain acceptable level of clean is required still.
especially the bathrooms, that's just a deal breaker.

  8. I love fudge, but can never get it to turn out right. One of these days I will master it!!

  9. Love the mouse and kitty game. It's fun to watch....
I go one local restaurant for a cup of coffee and some eggs and bacon and I bring my own bread to be toasted. I don't go out to any other restaurants anymore since I don't eat soy as there's soy in everything.

    Have a great weekend.

  10. We do need the loving spirit of the holidays to last. As for restaurants, my mother always said to go look in their restroom, as the kitchen will be at about the same level!

  11. We had so much fun this week we are resting this weekend...oh...other than a farmers' market on Sunday!

  12. It would be nice if people had the holiday spirit year round. Imagine how much love and joy there would be...all the time! And your cat made me smile, thank you!

  13. Yum, fudge! I have a fudge recipe I make occasionally for holidays. I'm with you on the cleanliness. If it doesn't look, feel, and smell clean, I'm not eating there. My guage is the bathrooms. If they are not clean, I doubt they are clean in the kitchen.

  20. Fudge is good but Divinity is my favorite. It's hard to make though but once in awhile I actually get it right. Cute little cat video.
