Professional Beggar

video

Bill made friends with a "tom cat" who was about nine months old. They met at the Pilot Truck Stop, in Greenville, VA. The young Tom was friendly with Bill and let him pet him. He had no intentions of going anywhere, though Bill was tempted to rescue him. The Tom just wanted to be fed. So, he was pleased when Bill bought him a can of turkey dinner with gravy, from the truck stop store.

As a trucker, Bill meets these "professional beggars", both cats and dogs, every now and then. Usually you cannot get close to them. Bill respects each critter and their space. He knows how hard they have it. When he meets one, he does what he can to make life a little bit easier for them, even if it is for just one day.

I would not be surprised if one of these days Bill meets one that becomes his trucking buddy.

    1. Yes. Actually, they both are, T. I think that is one reason Bill bonds with them.

  2. How can you not love a man who feeds stray cats - especially cute orange ones.

  4. Your Bill is a fantastic man, and you are very fortunate to have him in your life (but then you already know that). It's a special person who will take time to feed or care for in some way the strays we come across in life - be it animal or human. You both are "good people" in M's book.

  7. I would spend my whole life heart broken if I were a trucker. I am so glad Bill does what he does because it is so sad to see these little lost souls. I hope he does find a buddy who can keep him company while he is out and who he can give a good home (away from home). Good for you, Bill. you have a heart of gold :)

    1. Billjust tries to connect with each one he meets. He offers what he can. He cares, and he wants them to know that someone cares.

  12. What a sweet looking little boy, he is really enjoying the can of food. Bless Bill's heart for helping these little ones. One of these days he will have that trucking buddy.

I want to save them all but I know I have to be satisfied with saving those I can. We have about 30 ferals scheduled so far for our next spay/neuter event.

    1. Yes, Bill will keep helping these little critters. It is important to him to at least do something. We wish we could save them all, too. But if we each do what we can, then it makes a difference. Bless you for what you do.

  15. this is a story begging to be told!! A trucker meet his "buddy" on the open road, and off they go together on adventures. love this idea.
And what a good man with a kind heart you got there. :)

  16. LOl, that looks like the orange begger that lives in my neighborhood! A cat buddy would be nice, but I don't think it would enjoy being on the road though. But my little sisters cat didn't seem to mind when she took him back and fourth from New York to Texas, so maybe some cats can handle cars. : )
