The Rains

The dry, dead plants stubbornly clung to each other while threatening those still alive. Agnes carefully pulled each drought ravaged plant away from the healthy ones, preserving the life within them.

Finally clearing away the remains, she exposed the solid foundation which held each plant. Agnes knew that this is where hope lives, deep within the roots.

As she looked to the heavens, the sustaining rains finally came down in affirmation of life.

  1. Without a doubt, the dead can choke out the living. I could feel you working in your garden, restoring order, and welcoming life-giving rain.

  2. Well, this came from the heart ... as I know you have been struggling all week to do just that. Your words paint pictures in our minds, McGuffy ... nobody says it better than you ...

  3. Beautiful, McGuffy. This is pretty much how it is now in my garden here in California.

  7. It is true that we must remove the dead non-functioning things from our lives to make room for healthy new growth. Like the metaphor.
