Good Fences #22

Kansas cattle weathering a very stormy day.

Bill drives a refrigerated truck. Most of his loads are food,
and most of those are meat loads. Consequently, he travels
back and forth through cattle country quite often. It is always
interesting for me to observe the animals in their environment
(even when we are going 65 MPH).

  1. Good for your husband...that 65 is a comfortable speed...even in a car. Here in Texas the limit is 75 and I think that is too fast. Slow down and enjoy the countryside like you shared today...beautiful scenes.

  2. We travel a main highway to shop for everything but still very rural and we can't get enough of the cattle in the fields. Love seeing them with their calves and it is beautiful sight to see them on green pasture. Also love seeing round bales. I always feel so bad for the cows in the winter during ice and snow storms but CH tells me they have leather coats.. yeah I know but I bet they would like some protection once and awhile. Plenty of fence line there for Good Fences!

  4. Being a former farm girl, where my dad raised Angus cattle, I think cows are very unique animals. But I do also like my steak!

  5. I always think that's interesting too. We came home from town the other day in a driving rain and our neighbor's dapple grey horse was standing quietly, enduring the hard rainfall on his back. Nice photos.

  10. so amazes me that these could be pastures along the very highway just miles from my own house. In fact, there are cattle in the fields across from my children's school! ha

  12. Excellent. I always prefer to travel the backroads instead of the interstate. The scenery is so much better. Hugs, Janet
