  5. I have many memories of those old wash tubs. We used them for laundry mostly, but I remember using them when we butchered 50 chickens in a day to cool the meat from freezing.

  6. they look in great shape. I can think of a few uses for them other than holding old tires & weeds... maybe flowering weeds ;)

  7. Wow, the photo reminded me of the two wash tubs my mom had when I was a very little girl. They were next to the old electric wringer washer, used for rinse #1 and rinse #2. I haven't thought of them for years!

  8. Lovely, another reason why I enjoy taking the back roads, or off the beaten path anyway.

  9. Brings back memories of bath time when I was young. I've never seen a double tubs . We only had the one.

  10. Oh dear, I am afraid I remember those too! I am thinking they would look better empty, or with some plants spilling over the side..
Thanks for stopping by my blog...Janey.

  12. O, I would dearly love to have a couple of those olden galvanized wash tubs...I'd plant the most lovely of flowers in them in the summertime...

  13. We used to have those - they would make smashing planters...that tire would have to go though.

  14. Love the old washtubs with the tire. I can imagine them as really nice planters, however. Hugs, Janet

  19. I remember having two big bins just like that for taking the laundry out to hang on the line! I think years later, when she finally got an actual washer and dryer, they were converted to ice buckets during our annual summer reunion. one for adults, one for kids - ha!

  24. I've seen a few of these in my life time, but what I remember most is the old electronic machine washers with the ringer. My grandmother used one for years when I was small. I got my hand caught in that thing a time or two. Thankfully nothing ever got broken, but it scared me to death.

  25. Great find but it's funny they are being used for storage, I think a planter with flowers would be a better use don't you?
