Woven Words

People rarely say
what they mean.
They say things
that only hint to
how they really feel,
knitting sweaters
of woven words,
hiding themselves
from the coldness
of the world.

Quote Prompt:
Probably the reason we all go so haywire at Christmas time
with the endless unrestrained and often silly buying of gifts
is that we don’t quite know how to put our love into words.”

  1. You are so right. Your words say it best, knitting sweaters of woven words,
hiding themselves from the coldness of the world, and we move on, mostly in search of that one random shared to warm our souls. Always ofcourse dog and cat kisses. No words needed!

  2. I have found this to be true. Often, people say things from the top of their head but their heart isn't in it. It like they say something without being aware of what they say. I like ... knitting sweaters of woven words.

  4. Language was given to us so we could hide our selves, wasn't it?

    1. No, I do not believe language was given to us so we could hide. I believe it was given to us so we could express ourselves, and are then able to connect with others. Love isn't love until you give it away.

  7. Very nice writing. I agree with Brian's comment. And language can be both a blessing and a curse.
