To withhold the truth is a secret lie,
a broken heart can testify.
Does the burden lie within the believer,
or perhaps the blame is in the deceiver.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
can never put trust together again.

Quote Challenge, Day Three

Today is the third and final day of the Three Day Quote Challenge. For me, this was a challenge. To choose just three favourite quotes was very difficult. I love quotes, as I usually find strength or wisdom in them. Of course, others may make me upset. However, those make me seek wisdom.

The quote I chose today is from the wisdom of the Dalai Lama. I believe that he is another wise man given to mankind to teach and guide us. It is up to us to learn our lessons well.

"Our prime purpose in life is to help
others. And if you can't help them,
at least don't hurt them."
~Dalai Lama

On this final day of the quote challenge, I nominate:
2. Les of Ink Interrupted
3. JP of A Quiet Corner

The rules of the challenge are simple. They are as follows:
1. Post for three consecutive days.
2. Choose and share one or three quotes each day.
3. Challenge three additional bloggers each day.

I hope you have enjoyed this challenge. Please feel free to share your favourite quotes!

Quote Challenge, Day 2

This is Day Two of the quote challenge. Thank you, again, PrincessJM, for nominating me for this quote challenge. I enjoy words, especially wise words strung together with meaning.

Today I am sharing a quote that I truly believe. I try to be conscious of these wise words every day. I know my dear friend, Julia, believes this, too. We have talked about it.

Leave this world a little better than you found it.
~Lord Robert Baden-Powell

For Day 2 of the Quote Challenge, I nominate:
1. Janet of The Cat on My Head
2. Linda of Senior Adventures
3. Ellen of 15andmeowing

The rules of the challenge are simple. They are as follows:
1. Post for three consecutive days.

2. Choose and share one or three quotes each day.
3. Challenge three additional bloggers each day.

The sharing of quotes and learning make this challenge fun. But, it is the sharing of friendship that makes it special. Hugs!

A Quote Challenge

I have always found quotes meaningful. I find them to be an anchor or a way of grounding me to a moment or situation. I often find wisdom in them. There are some quotes that are a part of my daily thinking. I shared some of those with you here on this blog.

I have been nominated by PrincessJM, of Ramblings of an Old Soul, to participate in the "Three Day Quote Challenge". The rules of the challenge are simple. They are as follows:

1. Post for three consecutive days.
2. Choose and share one or three quotes each day.
3. Challenge three additional bloggers each day.

Today is Day 1 of my challenge. I am sharing a quote that has always fascinated me. I first read it when I was very young, about age 12. I was intrigued enough to read whatever I could by the author, Edgar Allen Poe. I am still fascinated. Here is the deeply thoughtful quote:

On Day 1, I now nominate the following bloggers:
1. Gail of At the Farm
2. Karen of 21 Wits, by Karen
3. Claudia of ImagesByCW

She stood there, suitcase in hand, unsure if she could really do it. She was frozen with the fear of leaving, but also that of staying. Thoughts of all that had happened over the years raced through her mind.

From deep within her, a whisper said, “You have survived.” Somehow, as she walked out the door, she knew that she would be fine.

The Letter

The letter was worn, with inky smears,
words were faded by long dried tears.
But time cannot fade the feelings within;
when hearts are broken, no one can win.
No one to fault, no one to blame;
pride protects feelings, hearts to reclaim.
Years have passed, hearts have grown old;
feelings have died or long since grown cold.
Still, the letter holds silent questions inside:
what could have been had both hearts tried.

Tent-Ball Practice

You may remember that George invented Tent-Ball.
He has a rowdy practice session every morning.

He positions his tent over the ball turbo-track,
making sure the ball is in place and ready to roll.

Spectators are welcome. George loves his fans.

He also loves the challenge of capturing the ball,
and getting it going really, really fast again!

Grizelda still plays Tent-Ball, but this morning she is napping.
Anyone care to join George in a rousing game of Tent-Ball?

Go a Little Nuts Today

Squirrels are cute, clever little critters.

They really don't ask for much,

and are content with simple things.

Squirrels do know what they like.

They are true to themselves.

We can learn a lot from critters.

Happy Squirrel Appreciation Day!

Here are some fun facts to help you
understand & appreciate squirrels!

The chill of your silence is brutally clear;
I may freeze to death, I fear.
I foolishly made a fatal mistake,
and now myself I must forsake.
In your blizzard I’m all alone;
your frost chills me to the bone.
How sorry I am, you’ll never know.
I didn’t mean to make it snow.

Mayo & Me

I am away from home this week. Bill and I have been at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN). We are looking into finding resolution for some of my health issues. What was supposed to have taken a couple of days is taking much longer than we thought it would. Mayo is very thorough.

I will explain all of this once I am back home. I hope everyone is safe, warm, and well. Take care of your loved ones...and yourself. Hugs!

The moment is gone; it was right here!
I cherished the time; I knew it was dear.
The colorful lights, ribbons, and bows,
the decorations, songs, and hoping for snow.
The tree now lies still, barren, and worn,
out in the yard…it’s ornaments shorn.
Paper and boxes are their encasement,
all stored away, down in the basement.
Until next year, it is all put away,
ready to celebrate another holiday.
