Trust

To withhold the truth is a secret lie,
a broken heart can testify.
Does the burden lie within the believer,
or perhaps the blame is in the deceiver.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
can never put trust together again.

  1. A very poignant poem.
To built trust takes a long time but to destroy trust only takes a second.
    Hugs,

  3. Oh, WOW! Great poem, McGuffey Ann! You're so right, it's hard to put trust together again after it's lost. Thanks for sharing!

  9. Lies by omission can do just as much damage to Trust, as any outright lie spoken. Sometimes what we DO NOT say is far more significant. Very poignant.

  11. "Trust" is my one word for this year. It is something that has always been a big struggle for me. Once those important people in childhood destroy one's trust, no one else really stands a chance to start off with a clean slate...they are handed the baggage of those that came before them. Maybe it isn't fair, but it is how it is. Trust is very hard. Getting it back is nearly impossible.

    Have a blessed day!
