Deem

The sun will never
set in the East.
St. Mary will never
wrestle the Beast.
The sea will never
quench desire.
The blazing desert
isn’t really on fire.
Some things are accepted
sight unseen;
what we say
isn’t what we mean.

  1. Honestly, we've never read much poetry before but because of you we're quite the fan.

  2. Your book is filled with excellent poetry, you truly have a gift for it. This is just one powerful example. I love the closing stanza best of all, no truer words spoken.

  3. It's so true, your poem, sometimes I think if we did not speak, our world would not be clouded in misunderstanding.

  13. I love how you do this.. I don't even know how to describe it, but it's like I think you are taking us in one direction and then BOOM - it's like a great truth I wasn't expecting revealed by the conclusion. And I'm always just... Wow. I wasn't expecting that, and I didn't know I needed it. But I do.
