Friendly Fill-Ins: Week 4

Welcome to "Friendly Fill-Ins"! Ellen of 15andmeowing and I post the blank fill-in statements each Thursday and meet up on Fridays to with a link to share our answers.
So...let's share our thoughts! Here are my completed statements:

1. The best money I ever spent was used to help someone in a positive way and the worst was when it was used to enable someone in their own poor choices. I learned that sometimes “tough love” is the only answer.

2. My most memorable vacation was with Bill and Maisie at Lake Gogebic. We went fishing and enjoyed several natural and historical sites, including waterfalls and “The Porkies”.

Presque Isle Falls, MI. (2003)

 3. It is a truly heartfelt thing when a dog greets you after you have been away. No one greets you quite the way as a dog does…no one.

 4. Once, I did not return a stray dog to its possible owner. I always look for the owner of strays. This dog had no collar and this was long before microchips. When I thought I may have found the original owner, I asked questions about the dog he was looking for. It seemed that this may be a match. However, the person then went on to complain that the dog was nothing but a problem, barking, always running away, and that he really hated it, saying that he hoped it never came home. When I asked why he was looking for it, he replied that he had spent a lot of money on it and that was the only reason. So, when he asked if I had his dog, I said, “No. It isn’t your dog.” I quickly hung up, and left the dog the dog in the new home where everyone was happy.

~May you find some happiness in your day.~

  1. I love dogs. However I haven't had much luck training them.
So we have carts. We still mourn over one that recently died.
He was with us for many years.

  2. I'm a cat person myself, but I always had dogs growing up. It's true, they do greet you like no other does. Loved your answer to #4. Good for you!

  3. Wonderful fill-ins! I don't blame you one bit for #4. Some people just aren't fit, or perhaps don't deserve, to have a furbaby in their life. Thanks for hosting this!

  4. 1. The best money I ever spent was the money I spent on college because I met CH there.. :) and the worst was the money I spent on a cruise. I love to boat but not on an older smaller cruise ship which encountered a terrible storm our first night out.
    2. My most memorable vacation was with CH, the Husband, at the Cayman Islands. One of the destinations of the cruise trip!
    3. It makes me so happy when I see cats and kittens find homes with people who are going to love and respect them. We are involved with a rescue that does that very thing and it is heartwarming and what needs to happen for every kitten and cat. Spaying and neutering is a must.
    4. Once I learned to live in the moment my life became so much more enriched. I still have to work at it but it is so much better than worrying about what happened in the past and what is in the future. I need to enjoy where I am right now in this minute.
    Thanks Annie and 15andmeowing!

  6. Nice answers, that is a sweet photo of you, Bill and Maize. I agree that no one greets you like a dog, they express such pure joy at seeing the ones they love. And kuddos to you for not returning the stray dog. I am glad he ended up in a good home.

  7. I always hate going away when my dog can't go. It makes me sad! We're going to D.C. in early July and my dog will stay with my parents. :-( But yes, she's always SO happy to see us when we return! I think by now she's learned that we're coming back when we leave her there! There's just no telling when...

  8. Hi! This is my first time joining. For your worst money spent, that brought to mind something for me that I didn't think of when doing this. I was so glad to read #4! Yes, dogs are wonderful about greeting their owners!

  9. Great answers! While I have no idea where Lake Gogebi is, I suspect the warm memories are as much about the shared friendship as the actual location.
Totally agree with #1, 3 & 4 ... in many ways, sorting out #1 is the most difficult.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  11. Ohhhhh, dogs are the BEST!! Has anyone ever been as happy as a dog greeting it's owner? I wonder. Imagine having all that happiness all the time. :)
Thank goodness I am always too broke to be able to support anyone's bad habits - including my own! LOL

Good call on not returning that dog!

  12. OMC, the dog playing ball with himself is so clever. Lily sat giving me the stink-eye the entire time I was watching the doggie videos. Annie, your #1 answer was perfect. I wish I'd thought of t, as I have been on both sides of that situation as well. Hope you have a great weekend. Tom and I are doing a kitty transport tomorrow. With love and hugs, Janet

  17. McGuffy, I'm going to add your meme button to my blog hop page and hopefully I will be able to work it in to my regular Friday blog post. It may take me a couple of weeks to figure it all out, but I will eventual play along.

  18. Unfortunately I have to meet many people like that on a daily basis. That care more about their pocket book, than their dog.

  19. I agree with you completely on 1,3,and 4. Even my cats. Come to greet me at the end of day and Toby rubs and winds around my legs as I cross the room. He purrs so loudly! I loved your vacation pics... couple of cute young kids and a dog there! Sweet memories indeed! You did the right thing for the dog in #4, you followed your heart! The dog deserved better than he had before! I love the photos you add to your post, makes for fun reading! :-) Friendly Fill-ins is FUN!! :-)
