Friendly Fill-ins: Week 38

Welcome to "Friendly Fill-Ins"! You can find the fill-ins here or at 15andmeowing.com each Thursday. The first two fill-ins are provided by my co-host, Ellen. The final two statements are offered by myself. We have posted a link so we can all share the completed fill-ins.

We thank you for joining us each week. Your participation is very important. We enjoy getting to know you better! Sharing with each other is what it is all about. Please remember to visit everyone on the list. It takes me awhile, but please know I will be there as soon as I can.

I am still fighting this flu that seems to have no end. The congestion settled in my lungs and coughing has been pretty extreme. I stay in a fog, and am not sure which is worse: the "bug" or the remedy. I hope you and your loved ones are all staying well.

The weekend is here. Enjoy it! Here are my completed fill-ins for this week:

1. I have seen nothing on Broadway. I have only been to New York on a trucking adventure with Bill. But, I will be honest, I really have no interest in city life. I spent most of my childhood in Chicago, but am not a city girl at heart. I am happier hearing loons call across a moonlit lake, or coyote choruses on a starry night. You can have the stage light, I will take the natural light of the North woods.

2. My Chinese zodiac sign is “The (Earth) Pig”. This is good, as Pigs are said to be most compatible with Goats, which is what Bill is. Of course, there are always things that match and clash in things like astrology. In terms of Western Astrology, I am a May Gemini, which is supposed to be the mirror image of the June Gemini. To my personal experience, there may be some truth in that. Naturally, these things can be fun, but I really do not take any of them seriously.

3. Celebrities need to stay in their lane. These people are paid to entertain us. They do not know what people in "the real world" are going through. If they can find a niche to use their fame for the good of all, that is wonderful. Then, they should make a positive difference. However, I do not need them to speak for me. Especially when they do not reflect my behaviour, morals, or values. In recent days, many celebrity women have called attention to themselves in extremely negative ways. The ways they have dressed, spoken, and conducted themselves is appalling and quite honestly, disgusting. If you want respect, you need to start with respecting yourself. Then, extend that respect to others in an intelligent manner, even to those you may not agree with.

 4. A good day is one spent doing what you love, with those you love. The older I get, the more I realize how important this is. So much time is spent on things that we have to do, need to do, or think we should do. We need to remember to make time to love those who matter, and make sure that they know it. When all is said and done, this is what will be remembered, and this is what matters the most.

~Make sure to spend some fun time with your loved ones!~

Now, it's your turn. Please link up with us here. Or, you can answer in the comments

  1. Your comments on a good day are so true! So many people spend their lives chasing "MORE" and never find happiness because they can't manage to appreciate what they have. I've seen this a lot with people thinking if they just get x, they'll be happy ... but when they get x, their inability to appreciate what they have means they'll just chase something else.

    1. Exactly. I believe in "less is more". This is why. Hugs.

  2. Love your thoughts today Ann...I see we are both "pigs" in the Chinese zodiac! I echo your feelings about celebs AND what a good day is. Hope you have a GOOD weekend....!

  6. Annie,

First off, I always love the pix you use with you questions. How do you find just the right kitty photo to go with each is beyond me! :) Hey, I love your Chinese Zodiac and you can really use this to your benefit. Here's how...if you're ever taken by the radical Islamic terrorists you can tell them you're more vial then most infidels because you're a pig and if they kill you then surely will not inherit 30 virgins or whatever the heck it is they get in paradise(little do they know the paradise that truly awaits them is a lake of fire). You and I are on mark with #3 today that celebrities need to keep their two cents to themselves. They are a lot like politicians anyhow. They say one thing and do another. Why haven't the liberal Hollywood elite checked out of the US for parts unknown? See what I mean, say one thing but do another? *smack forehead* Kellogg's, Frito Lays, or any other company who's CEO mouthed off about the Deplorables no longer is getting our money. I decided to not buy their products if I can completely avoid it and so far I've found suitable substitutes for these. After all this hogwash Madonna spurred during the election campaign but mostly all the junk lately I'm not going to buy her mewsic and will not do future promotes on my blog. Ok, enough said on this matter. It's the weekend and we don't want any rain on this parade, right? Thanks for hosting and have a good Friday my friend! ;)

  7. Except for the fact that my Chinese zodiac sign is the Earth Snake rather than the Pig, your answers make it obvious to me that we have a lot in common. Your answers to #s 1, 3, and 4 and so perfect. Also, I really hope you get to feeling better! Somehow, I have avoided the flu this winter, and I feel so bad that you are having to struggle with it. Prayers and well wishes to you!

  8. Excellent answers, as always. I love all the photos too. I completely agree with #3, I used to like Meryl Streep, but not I have no respect for her after her little speech at the Oscars, just because she won an award for acting doesn't give her a right to push her political views. I hope you feel better soon. XO

    1. Thanks, my friend! Meryl Streep does not have it together. She cheered Roman Polanski on for winning an award, yet he is a convicted child molester. He admitted it, too. So, she is very messed up! These celebrities do not live in our world, but in their own bubble. Unfortunately, we paid for that bubble.

  10. So sorry you're still sick with that flu. I hope you'll be back feeling well soon. Great answer again. My mom used to say, "Be content of the little you have and you'll always be happy" and she was right of course.

  16. I'm sorry that you're feeling poorly, Annie. You're in my prayers. I hope you are 100% better very soon. {{{Hugs}}}

I feel the same way about the country life versus the city life. Give me the country any day! I don't like crowds and scary traffic and all the busy-ness of cities. I want the birds and flowers and trees and chinking of the cardinals, etc.

    Have a blessed weekend!

  18. #4 is probably the best fill-in to date. So many good answers for that one. Love those leap-frogging kittens and the Lion King. Annie, please forgive me for not being around lately. I have been spending most of my time on the 50th reunion project, which I will now be able to take a break from for a while. And I had appointments everyday this week. I am so sorry you are sick. This is another really bad year for flu, and with a compromised immune system, it makes it so hard to stay well. I pray for you every day, and that will never end. Please get well soon. Sending all my love and hugs, Janet

  21. I'm year of the Pig too!!! No wonder we get along. I think mine is Gold, if I recall correctly.
Celebrities have the same right as anyone else to have an opinion, but what they need to remember is that a) there is a thing called appropriateness (time, place, manners), and b) be ever mindful that there are both people of influence and entitlement and thus have to choose how they will use that very, very wisely. Many do not. Some call attention to things that we need to address, such as Environmental issues. But often I am willing to be it's more related to their own selves. And then they need to get back in their lane.

    1. Well, I am of the thinking that opinions are like "something else" (as an old boyfriend used to say), everyone has one, and many stink. So, yes. Celebrities need to stay in their lane with theirs. By that, I mean remember to whom they are pontificating. Their world is a bubble, paid for by us. We live in the real world of financial issues, insurance and healthcare woes, rent, mortgage, etc. They cannot tell us what our solutions are when they have no clue what we suffer. Now, that being said, if they can make a positive contribution, without stirring a dirty pot, they should do so. BE THE CHANGE. Do not add to the dirt; clean it up. HUGS!

  22. Great fill in responses. We agree about a good day...the mom thinks a good day is one that she can spend with us.

  23. We especially love your answer to number 4, Annie. There are lots of ways to spend a day, but none better than what you've described. :)

We hope you get better real soon. That flu sounds terrible, and we're sending lots of purrs and prayers of healing your way.

    Hugs (from another goat/ram)

  24. I could not agree more about celebutards, as we've taken to calling the unwelcome outspoken bunch. Entertain me. If I don't like the politically charged music of an artist I won't pay to watch or listen. And believe me, I buy compact disks and DVDs to support those I appreciate. Be well!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree with you. So many celebrities take it upon themselves to share their political views while they are supposed to be entertaining. They have the right to their opinions. They should express those opinions when NOT being paid to entertain.

  26. Just now read your fill-ins....I so agree with #3. I did not know that about Steep applauding Polanski. Shameful!
