Kenzie is ten years old today! She has been with us for almost a year, but this is her first birthday with us. She has really come a long way, too.
When we first adopted Kenzie from Central Illinois Sheltie Rescue, she was in sad shape. Kenzie was very overweight, insecure, sad, and serious. She did not seem to know how to interact with others. Learning to be loved was hard for her, and when she realized she is loved she developed separation anxiety. That was when she started carrying our socks around.
As we got her onto a healthy diet, she lost weight. As we played with her, she gained a sense of humour. That seemed to give her confidence! Now she not only plays with us and Stella, but she also plays with George!
Kenzie is happy to be Stella's sister. Though she is older, she looks to Stella for security and cues. Stella is happy to be the anchor. They both are happy to guard the house, yard, and all of us. We are happy that Kenzie is part of our family.
We wish Kenzie a happy birthday, and many more years with us! We love you, Kenzie Blue! 💗
