Friendly Fill-ins: Week 48

Welcome to "Friendly Fill-Ins: Week 48"!  You can find the fill-ins here and at 15andmeowing.com each Thursday. We post the linky on Friday, so we can all share. As always, the first two fill-ins are provided by the very creative Ellen. The final two statements are offered by myself.

With the A-Z Challenge, everyone seems to be more preoccupied than usual. We appreciate you being here! Your participation is what makes this weekly event so much fun. Please remember to try to visit everyone on the list. Thanks.

Have a great weekend doing what you enjoy. I hope the weather is agreeable, too.

The questions took a lot of thought this time. Here are my completed fill-ins:

1. I don't understand why “gaming” is so popular. I have never gotten into video games of any kind. They just don’t hold my interest. I know I am in a minority here, and I am okay with that. I have interests that others may not like. To each their own; it makes life interesting.

2. My in-case-of-emergency person is Bill. In case we are not available for the critters, we have a neighbour who is our pet-sitter. She knows the routine and has a key. We have known her folks for almost thirty years. They are good neighbors and friends.

3. There is so much rain, lately! The rivers here are overflowing. The trees are all in full buds, the bulbs are sprouting into greenery, and the grass is growing active. April is wet, but May will be beautiful in colourful blooms!

4. I would be lost without reading, writing, and critters.  These three things are so much a part of who I am. I love to learn and have an endless curiosity, much like a cat. Inquiring minds seek answers to questions.

~May your questions always have answers~

Now, it's your turn. Please link up with us here. Or, you can answer in the comments

  1. I don't understand the fascination with gaming, either ... seems like time could be spent so much more productively. Worse, games and personal devices seem quite addictive to many people, which makes it seem like they aren't fully paying attention to the world around them.

  2. Hello and Happy Friday!! My Mom got to answer fill-ins today and ALMOST said what you did for #4 - reading and writing are important to her too but she just said CATS! Our Spring is stuck in the hole between Winter and Spring - we have some nice days and things start blooming then WHAMMO - winter is back. Tonight we have a freeze warning - our pretty dicentra will yet again be frozen with those pretty pink and white hearts encased in ice and nobody likes a FROZEN heart!

Love, Angel Sammy and Teddy too

  4. Love your answer to #4. Reading, writing, and critters--yes! Happy Friday :)

  5. How nice to have someone you can trust to care for your pets! I really wish I had that and it's been a concern for me for quite some time now. I'm not into gaming either and it doesn't interest me, but like you said, to each his own. We've been getting a lot of rain too. I love the all the cats in the library. :)

  6. I always enjoy your fill-ins so very much. As a kid I played a variety of video games, but now, as an adult, I haven't touched one in years. The time and the appeal just aren't there anymore. And I feel like we're drowning in rain, too! I sure am happy to see Spring finally arriving, but I almost forgot how much rain it brings with it. And your answer to #4 is so perfect, and I feel exactly the same way. Thank you for hosting this challenge! I always look forward to Fridays because of it!

  7. I've never got interested in video games either but I love playing solitaire card games on my computer. At first I was very slow but I now can solves them fairly quickly as my reflexes have speeding up. I can see a move at a glance where before it took me longer to see it and react.

In case of emergency I have my husband and my son and sometime my daughter to take care of things.

There is so much repetition of the news it drives me nuts and the speculation that goes on when there an attack of some kind or other.

I would be lost without my computer and photo copier. My computer is a real important tool in my everyday life. I can get news from my kids when I turn my computer on and receive important documents in attachments which I can print on my printer while dealing with the settlement of my daughter's estate and important communications oversea instead of waiting for weeks to get the hard copies.

I hope that you have a great day.
    Hugs, Julia

  8. I love all your answers and the adorable kitty pictures with them. I almost had the same answer for #1, but I decided people always on phones bothered me more. It is nice to have good neighbors, ours are good, but their health is not good so we couldn't have them help with the cats, we are lucky to have my Mom.Have a nice weekend! XO

  9. I miss having good neighbors. Never have understood gaming and in general I do not like to play games. I would be lost without reading, no doubt about it.

  10. As always great answers and love your kitty pics! We have a lot of rain lately too. We, also, have a good neighbor like yours. Hope you have a great weekend!

  11. I'm right there with you on scratching my head over the hardcore gamers - I mean, I like playing some games, but I'm not so immersed into it I let life pass me by. :)

That's awesome you have great neighbors! There are only 3 houses (including ours) on the dead-end road we moved to - we've met the one neighbor closest to us (who have kids our kids' ages) but they keep to themselves. The neighbors in the other house have lived there since the beginning of time, and also keep to themselves, so we haven't met them yet. The neighbors directly below us at the bottom of the hill are relieved we moved in, because before this house was bought by the people who upgraded it and sold it to us, there were 11 people living in this house and annoying all the neighbors. They're all relieved a 'normal' family has moved in vs. random renters. ;)

YES! Too much rain right now. I need some sunshine!!

Oh I'd be lost without reading, writing, and critters, too! Totally! :) Have a great weekend, and thanks for hosting! :)

  12. I love the animation of the cat turning the pages. So cute.

I don't do games either. I was going to say that as my answer, but I changed it to something else.

We have had a lot of rain too. It even snowed today, and Sunday is to be 70...lovely Pittsburgh weather. :)

    Have a great weekend.

  13. I just wonder what I would do if I didn't have reading and writing. I'd have time to clean up the place and probably make an Eiffel Tower out of fish sticks.

  14. I don't think you're in the minority about gaming (at least I'm with you!). Also with you on #4.

  15. Totally agree with one and four. I am happy thinks are already blooming here. Dogwood blooms are almost totally open. Love the neighborhood watch cats meme. It has turned cold here again, but I think it is just for the day. Cooper and Astrid have been driving me crazy going in and out from the catio! Thanks so much for voting for my boys. Love and hugs and lots of prayers, Janet

  16. Hello! I'm definitely not a gamer either. I do like playing the casual games on Facebook and on Pogo.com. But realistic video games, where I have to try to complete a quest and not get my character killed off stress me out! I don't like feeling all antsy when I'm trying to relax, so video games are out for me.

Reading is definitely necessary to my existence as well. :)

  18. The rest of my family is hooked on gaming too - oye. It irritates me to no end because the sound is always up loud and it's shooter games often, which rather feels like I am living in a war zone. My laptop is usually in the same room so I am forced to go our bedroom if I want to read or write. And they can go for hours!!! Unreal. I can play for maybe 20 minutes, and then it's not fun anymore. That's my limit.

  19. The Dad isn't a gamer either and thinks it's pretty much a waste. Great answers!

  20. "May your questions always have answers." PURR-FECT. The most frustrating things in life don't have answers or "right/wrong." As usual, we love the kitty memes as much as your answers :)

  21. I'm not into gaming but I can see how the role play games can be interesting and kind-of like a book or adventure. The war & shoot-em-up games are utterly pointless.

  22. I don't get the gaming thing but I am sort of addicted to some games on my Kindle. I too, love cats and books and and would be lost without them, writing not as much. Love the cat paging through the book!

  23. Awww that springtime kitty is just precious!

I'm not into gaming either. I like to play Mahjong while I'm waiting for this or that, but hardcore gaming is not for me. However, I do understand the attraction it holds for many. There are ways to make lots of money with the gaming industry. There are people that pay for something called Let's Play, where they make videos of themselves playing the games. How they make money doing this, I am not sure, but some of our kids have done this on occasion. Sitting around playing games for hours and not getting paid for it, I don't see doing that, though I was guilty when I was a teenager. :)

    Have a blessed weekend!

  24. Love your answers, Annie! Especially number four. I, too, would be utterly lost without reading, writing and critters (oh, and Tracey, too, of course)! :)

  25. I am not into gaming either. For some reason several of our YouTube followers live to game. The most I do is Polar Bowler. Back in the day, when Pong first came out, I had to play countless hours of the game to demonstrate it for would-be customers. This game was simple to install and took no time to master it. I was often paid to play challengers at the store. I had played what seemed like thousands of hours of a simple game. I had to make myself miss so I could go do other things.

  26. We don't get gaming either. But there are some who are really into it. It's great that you have a neighbor that you trust so well. In this day and age, it's kinda rare. :)

  27. Love all the cat memes! Hope your weekend is going great!

  29. Good questions, and I enjoyed reading your answers. Cute kitties! :) You could send some rain up our way! We sure need some, as all we've been getting lately is hot temps. and dust storms.
