For Mothers

This is for the women who love unconditionally,
making sure the needs of others are met,
often forsaking their own.

This is for her,
because her pride is not in herself,
but in those she loves.

This is for mothers whose hearts are whole
and those whose hearts are broken,
because both are made of love.

Whether your babies are flesh and blood
or fur and fuzz, this is for you.
You deserve this, because

Love is its own reward.

~Happy Mother's Day~

*I wrote this several years ago because so many mothers are not celebrated. This day may be difficult, even painful, for these mothers. I share it every year for them, to recognize them, to honour them, to celebrate them...because they matter every day. They need to know this. They need to be told.

  1. Lovely poem and post for this day. I'm lucky to still have my own mother, even though she's on the east coast and I rarely see her.

Wishing YOU a very happy Mother's Day!

  7. Happy Mother's Day to you too!

I love your poem. It's so important to celebrate mothers of all shapes and sizes. For some women days like this are so hard to get through, it's nice to be remembered, no matter whose mum you are. :-)

  9. That is beautiful, it should be on a Hallmark card. I agree, any woman that cares for another is a true mother. XO
