For Phoebe

It is with a broken heart that we express our deepest sympathy to our dear friends, Ellen and family, at 15andmeowing.com. Phoebe crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning, leaving her family in deep sadness and tears. Please visit them as we all grieve the loss of the very special Miss Phoebe.

I See You...

Clyde the Capable

In his short ten weeks, Clyde has been through a lot.
He has always been courageous and cooperative...

and, he is undeniably a cute little clown! He's got this.

Clyde likes the carefree fun of being the littlest dude.
He is still learning from big brother dude: George.

Well, that is what we want for you, Clyde. Fun!

Clyde's Recovery

Clyde assisted in the lab, before he went into surgery.
Thankfully, the vet team had his surgery under control!
It went pretty well. Thoroughly debrided and cleaned out,
the wound was surgically closed. He was sent into Recovery.

Clyde swaddled and resting comfortably in Recovery.
He is quite popular with his vet team, whom he loves, too.
Both hospital pictures were taken by our longtime
veterinary technician Nicole, whom we all adore.

Clyde continues to rest comfortably at home.
He is on an antibiotic and will have stitches for 10-14 days.
He will continue wearing T-shirts to keep them securely in place.

Clyde finds comfort with Stella, who is happy to offer it.
She will keep him safe and secure. Love does that.

*I will be catching up on visits on Monday.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Take care of your loved ones and also of You.*

Friendly Fill-ins: Week 72

We are happy you are here for another week of friendly sharing! As always, you can find the fill-ins here and at 15andmeowing.com each Thursday. On Fridays, we post the link for sharing. The first two fill-ins are always provided by Ellen. The final two statements are offered by myself. You are welcome to answer in the comments, but if you link up, even more people can share!

The minions are nine weeks old. They are still with us, as I have not found the right home, yet. I really like working with groups, because they do the placement. It is emotionally difficult for me to do placements. I would rather do the feeding, teaching, and be nurturing. They are very smart, funny little minions.

In the meantime, it has been a rough week. I did not get around to visit and comment. In fact, I missed some things entirely. But, I had a reason for my absence. Clyde spent a lot of time at the vet this week for his (Cuterebra) wound. It refuses to heal. So, today Clyde is having surgery. The vet will be debriding the wound, removing all dead tissue, and surgically closing the area. Like all of us, Clyde is ready for this to be over.

Bonnie B. (Bee) is doing well, too. This week, I did a Wordless Wednesday series of pictures of George and Bee. The love is very mutual there. I wanted to share it as I witnessed it. No words were needed.

As Summer ends and Autumn begins, we are setting records with heat and humidity. This is not my kind of weather. It has been in the 90s for a few days, with a few more days of this in the forecast. We really could use some rain, too.

My weekend will be offline, out of necessity. I hope yours will be great, no matter what you do. As Granny always said, "Be good to You."

Here are my completed fill-ins for this week:

1. I would never be friends with someone who is mean to others, human or critter. There is just no acceptable reason to be mean, in any way, shape, or form. Ever.

2. I will never refuse a hug. Seriously. I am a hugger. Okay, you probably knew that. Something else I will not refuse is an opportunity to learn. My curiosity is relentless. I will often write things down to research later, when I have a chance. I will research things to the point of exhausting the topic. I am blessed with a good memory, too.

3. I have never been to Alaska or Hawaii, but I have been to almost all of the states on the U.S. mainland. I was tempted to quote the Three Dog Night song, "Never Been To Spain", here, but I believe I did that once before. *wink*

4. When it comes to blogging, I think we each have to do it in our own special way. Each of us is uniquely different. Ideally, in blogging, we can connect with like-minded people. If we do, we can enjoy that connection, feeling that we are also accepted for what we offer.

Bygone

Heartbroken, she read the set of painstakingly, handwritten journals. Now she knew: her grandparents had been decent, caring, genuine people. There was no real reason they were left out of her life.

But, it was too late, now that she was grown and they were both gone. The only connection to their love was in these photos and the heartfelt words of Grammy.

Clyde Said...

I made this meme, just for fun. It seemed that was what Clyde was saying. Bonnie obliged and is waiting in the tunnel. This LOL is my most recent one to make the Cheezburger Home Page. It is a great way to start the week: with sweetness and fun. May your week be filled with both, too.

Friendly Fill-ins: Week 71

We are happy you are here for another week of friendly sharing! As always, you can find the fill-ins here and at 15andmeowing.com each Thursday. On Fridays, we post the link for sharing. The first two fill-ins are always provided by Ellen. The final two statements are offered by myself. You are welcome to answer in the comments. However, if you link up, even more people can share!

The minions are almost nine weeks old. We have not found their forever home, yet. These two are a bit unique. Coming from feral parents, they have some strong inborn traits. Their startle reflex is very acute, and we are still working on taming that. Though very street smart and bright, they are small for their age. We hope that time and love will resolve these things.

We are still working around the house and yard getting things ready for Winter. There is a growing list of Spring chores, too. There are maintenance chores and remodeling chores. The goal is still to move North, hopefully within the next couple of years.

On a sad note, Friends Forever, have lost their Dad (Bill). He had been quite ill. Our thoughts and prayers go to Mom Sharon and the furkids. If you haven't already, please visit them and let them know you care.

This is the last weekend of Summer. Spend it wisely, doing something fun! Store some of that Summer warmth, at least in memory, so you have it come January. Enjoy! Remeber to take care of loved ones, and also yourself. Hugs.

Here are my completed fill-ins for this week:

1. I have broken three rib bones. It was January 2015, when I fell on icy stairs. The ribs were broken and displaced. It literally took about eight months to even begin to heal. Breathing, sneezing, coughing, all were excruciating! I recovered from hip replacement more easily.

2. When I go out to breakfast, I order lunch. It is true more often than not. My sixth-grade health teacher made an impression on me. She said it does not matter what you eat for breakfast, so I choose lunch. In all honesty, I usually just have coffee when at home.

3. As Summer officially comes to an end, I always become very reflective. The wisdom of Autumn is revealed, as the year shows its age. I journal these thoughts and feelings onto paper. It is especially wonderful when journaling translates into poetry and stories.

4. Before this year is over, I really need to get my health back under control. I want to finish up testing and get definitive answers. I look forward to a healthier year in 2018.

~This last weekend of Summer,
go out and find some fun!~

Lessons

As she packed up her office, Naomi reflected on her past thirty-five years of teaching.

To Naomi, the “heart of caring” for others was always just as important as the science of nursing. She knew she had taught each student how to nurse a patient, both in body and spirit.

She didn't know how many nurses she had taught, but now she hoped they would meet again. She needed to put herself into their hands as she was forced to learn to be a patient.

Special Minions

Life with minions means living in the moment.
Everything is new and constantly changing.
These two have qualities uniquely their own.

Clyde is a sweet, busy little clown.

Bonnie is a diva, with both brains and beauty.

They are both very special little minions.
Their forever home will need to fit their needs.
