Treats!

I have been preparing for All Hallow's Eve. I read Edgar Allen Poe. I watched Young Frankenstein come into his own, so to speak. I listened to the old Radio Classics, such as Inner Sanctum, Light's Out, Suspense, The Haunting Hour, The Weird Circle, The Whistler, and The Witch's Tale. I really love these and all of the old Radio Classic mysteries and suspense stories. This video will complete my annual festivities of spooky, creepy treats. No tricks! Enjoy...

Awww...Minions

Clyde no longer needs to wear his adorable little shirts,
though he is just as adorable as always. But, he does still have to
put up with his silly sister, Bee. She is a bit difficult to ignore!
These two have a lot of purrsonality!

The minions are here to stay, at Home with us.
She is still Bonnie B. Good, but only answers to Bee.
Clyde has answered to Clyde from the start.
And, they both still answer to, "Minions!"

Drifting

A narrow path cuts through the bog;
it drifts along currents, into the fog.
Sunshine and moonlight have shown the way;
now autumn’s mist fades into grey.
Nature keeps secrets only dreams can feel;
light or shadow, illusion or real.
Soon the bog will drift into sleep.
Nature will have more secrets to keep.

Friendly Fill-ins: Week 77

We are happy you are here for another week of friendly sharing! As always, you can find the fill-ins here and at 15andmeowing.com each Thursday. On Fridays, we post the link for sharing. The first two fill-ins are always provided by Ellen. The final two statements are offered by myself. You are welcome to answer in the comments, but if you link up, even more people can share!

We have been discussing Winter Projects. We are planning to re-do some flooring. Some rooms have been done recently, so we need to finish floors in the rest of the rooms. We also need to do some other inside work. The goal is still to sell and go North. Planning and execution are critical.

Bill’s route is settling into a pattern. He has a very good rapport with both his boss and dispatcher. Communication is always important and helps everyone do their job better.

Our weather was at 8o° last week, and down below 40° this week. We have had a lot of rain, cold winds, some frost, and they say we could have snow showers very soon. I am okay with that. I breathe much better when it is not hot and humid. I can adjust to everything else.

The minions are doing well. It seems they are indeed Home. “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” (Robert Burns) I do not ever call these situations Foster Fails. I call them Rescue Wins. I like happy endings.

Have a fun-filled weekend and a safe Halloween!

I was challenged by the fill-ins this week. I try to answer what comes to me, without over-thinking. My co-host always makes the statements fun for me.

1. I would like to interview a person who is unknown to the masses, living their life in a humble manner, and who knows the simple truths of having lived honestly. They are my favourite kinds of people. It is them that I write about and that I write for. These are the stories that I find worth hearing and worth telling.

2. I would like to be interviewed by someone familiar with my writing or my animal rescues. These things are very similar at the root. The wounded souls and lonely hearts are the ones I am drawn to. I want to help, and then honour them by telling their stories. I would rather tell their stories than my own.

3. Halloween night is definitely more unnerving when you are alone, in a dark remote area, out past hells-half-acre. Having a dog does help to calm you, though. Cats can freak me out when they think they hear or see something. Trust me on these points, as I have done the research. Yeah, intensive research.

4. Once Halloween (All Hallows’ Eve) is over, I make sure to honour all of the saints on November 1st (All Hallows’ Day). This is the day to honour even those who may not have a special feast day of their own (yet). Mother Teresa has been canonized for a year, but has been a saint much longer. Saints are my superheroes. This is why...great love. This also puts me in the right frame of mind for the holidays.

May your weekend be magical!

The Littlest Dude

~Clyde & Cagney~
"Look 'em in the eye and tell 'em the truth."

I have always been a serious fan of James Cagney.
He was tough, smart, creative, and had lots of charm.
Clyde has the same straightforward, no-nonsense,
confident, "I got this!" attitude. He has proven it's true.
Like Cagney, he can do anything he puts his mind to.
In spite of his rough start in life, Clyde will do just fine.
I ought to know. I'm his Ma.

"Made it, Ma! Top of the world!"

Friendly Fill-ins: Week 76

Thanks for joining us for another week of friendly sharing! As always, you can find the fill-ins here and at 15andmeowing.com each Thursday. On Fridays, we post the link for sharing. The first two fill-ins are always provided by Ellen. The final two statements are offered by myself. You are welcome to answer in the comments, but if you link up, more people can share!

Bill would like to thank everyone for the birthday wishes. It is just nice to have him home on the weekends. The furkids and I are happy whenever Dad is home. He works hard, so it nice to see him relax and have fun. We wish he could have more fun time.

I have finished putting the yard to bed for the year. It was quite a job! Last week it rained, so this week was catch up. I definitely needed to mow. I also had leaves to rake and pine needles to pick up. Finally, I had cut everything down that was finished for the year. Bill will probably burn off the pile of clippings, branches, etc. when he turns the garden this weekend. I need to make sure that the snow blower is in good working order, too. Snow is inevitable as the year winds down.

Thank you to those who have begun participating in Sparks. This positive energy is very inspiring. The Sparks link-up is open each from Monday at 12:00 AM through Friday at 11:59 PM. Everyone is welcome. Let's share words of encouragement, hope, and goodness. We really are the lights of the world, each and every one of us.

The fill-ins were thought-provoking for me. Here are my completed statements.

1. If I was a ghost, I would haunt no one. I would haunt nothing. I would be too busy reuniting with loved ones on The Other Side, both flesh and fur!

2. I always cry when I am really sad or upset. I used to see crying as a weakness in myself. I had to be strong; tears were unacceptable. With age comes wisdom. I now allow myself the release that comes through tears.

3. My favourite scary story is The Tell-Tale Heart, by Edgar Allen Poe. It was required reading in my seventh grade English class. This was the first Poe story that I ever read, and I was impressed with the simple terror of this story. Poe was quite brilliant. He remains one of my favourite authors of dark literature.

4. I will be so glad when I have completed downsizing my “stuff” to a bare minimum. This has been a work in progress for a couple of years. It is stressful and time-consuming. But, finally, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

It's the perfect time for magical stories!

Critical Discovery

                                                                                                source

Jane’s life had been one of severe hardship and deep disappointment. Through the years she was often ill, as her health continued to decline. Eventually, she found herself in the hospital, forced to seek answers.

The top cardiologist on staff was called in to thoroughly examine Jane. It finally all made sense when he explained the discovery of her broken heart.

Friendly Fill-ins: Week 75

Here we are for another week of friendly sharing. You can find the blank fill-ins here and at 15andmeowing.com each Thursday. The link for sharing opens here on Fridays at 12:00 AM. The first two fill-ins are always provided by my friend and co-host, Ellen. The final two statements are offered by myself. Please link up, so more people can share.

Today is Friday the 13th. It is not my favourite day, but I will celebrate Grizelda and Chloe Jo today. They bless my life every day. I hope you find joy today, too.

Autumn seems to be secure, now. We have had rain and some cooler temperatures. The deer are very active in their search for companionship. My flower beds are full of acorns and walnuts, safely buried by the squirrels. The skies are full of Canada Geese, which means other birds have left for their Winter destinations. All is as it should be.

We are celebrating Bill’s birthday this weekend. He works hard and deserves a good one! His job does seem to be working out well. He has a good rapport with his dispatcher and the owner. They seem old-school in work ethic, as is Bill.

The minions have taken over, now. Yes, it was always about them, but now they know it. George is obsessed with them. They all run and play together every waking moment. It is funny, because George is so much taller and longer than Bee and Clyde. Bee does seem to be built long and lean, like George. Clyde is very compact, stocky and solid.

Wishing you and yours a wonderful weekend!

Here are my completed fill-ins for this week:

1. Keep calm and breathe. Research has proven that deep breathing when in stressful situations has many positive effects. It lowers your blood pressure, which immediately relaxes your body, restoring calm. Regular deep breathing can help manage pain, improve circulation, improved lung health, and overall well-being. Of course, petting an animal will lower blood pressure and improve well-being, too. I am working on these techniques!

2. Politics disappoints me. Resistance does not make positive changes. It only promotes bad attitude. If you want changes, then make changes in positive ways. BE the change!

3. Reading is my regular bedtime reward. The dogs go out and then get treats. The cats get their boxes tidied up. Then they get treats. My treat is getting to relax and read, surrounded by happy critters!

4. In retrospect, I am not sure I would change anything, except perhaps my own attitude at a younger age. We cannot change others, but we can change our own attitude. Life is not all about us. We share this world for a reason.

~Hoping it is a happy day!
