Friendly Fill-ins: Week 75

Here we are for another week of friendly sharing. You can find the blank fill-ins here and at 15andmeowing.com each Thursday. The link for sharing opens here on Fridays at 12:00 AM. The first two fill-ins are always provided by my friend and co-host, Ellen. The final two statements are offered by myself. Please link up, so more people can share.

Today is Friday the 13th. It is not my favourite day, but I will celebrate Grizelda and Chloe Jo today. They bless my life every day. I hope you find joy today, too.

Autumn seems to be secure, now. We have had rain and some cooler temperatures. The deer are very active in their search for companionship. My flower beds are full of acorns and walnuts, safely buried by the squirrels. The skies are full of Canada Geese, which means other birds have left for their Winter destinations. All is as it should be.

We are celebrating Bill’s birthday this weekend. He works hard and deserves a good one! His job does seem to be working out well. He has a good rapport with his dispatcher and the owner. They seem old-school in work ethic, as is Bill.

The minions have taken over, now. Yes, it was always about them, but now they know it. George is obsessed with them. They all run and play together every waking moment. It is funny, because George is so much taller and longer than Bee and Clyde. Bee does seem to be built long and lean, like George. Clyde is very compact, stocky and solid.

Wishing you and yours a wonderful weekend!

Here are my completed fill-ins for this week:

1. Keep calm and breathe. Research has proven that deep breathing when in stressful situations has many positive effects. It lowers your blood pressure, which immediately relaxes your body, restoring calm. Regular deep breathing can help manage pain, improve circulation, improved lung health, and overall well-being. Of course, petting an animal will lower blood pressure and improve well-being, too. I am working on these techniques!

2. Politics disappoints me. Resistance does not make positive changes. It only promotes bad attitude. If you want changes, then make changes in positive ways. BE the change!

3. Reading is my regular bedtime reward. The dogs go out and then get treats. The cats get their boxes tidied up. Then they get treats. My treat is getting to relax and read, surrounded by happy critters!

4. In retrospect, I am not sure I would change anything, except perhaps my own attitude at a younger age. We cannot change others, but we can change our own attitude. Life is not all about us. We share this world for a reason.

~Hoping it is a happy day!

Now, it's your turn. Please link up with us here.

  3. Great answers.......you and I are BOTH disappointed in politics - I'm sure others will say that too. I absolutely LOVE your night time routine and that graphic made me giggle - I think you and Ellen both probably look just like that graphic...surrounded by fur, books, and "happy"! Have a great Friday and weekend Annie.....

Love and Hugs, Pam (and Teddy too)

    1. Pam, I really am saddened by the state of politics in the U.S. I am not surprised that you feel the same. Yep; that reading in bed is me and ALL of MY minions: dogs and cats. Big hugs, my friend.

  4. I hope Bill has a wonderful birthday! I wish your weather was more fall like, but it seems to have so many ups and downs. It looks like we'll be back up in the 90's this weekend and early next week.

I love Friday the 13th! Hopefully that means today will be a good one for me--for all of us, really. :-)

I think reading is a great bedtime reward. I am not always able to get reading time in before bed (at least not for me--for my daughter, yes), but when I do, it's a real treat.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Annie!

    1. The 90s! Oh, that is awful! I hope we are through with that, now. I wish you a great Friday the 13th. (For me, it has brought very bad things.) And I hope you have a great weekend, too. HUGS!

  5. Reading is my bedtime reward too, with the help of one or more critters, of course. Sometimes I read out loud to them, and they look at me like I'm nuts. Happy Friday! :)

    1. When I read out loud, my cats look at me like I have lost my mind. The dogs look like, "Where is the treat?" Ha!

  6. Great answers, as always. Please wish Bill a Happy Birthday for me. I am glad his job is going well. I agree that breathing is a good way to calm down, I need to work on that. Your nightly ritual sounds wonderful. I think most are disappointed with politics. I am superstitious about everything except black cats and Friday the 13th. My niece was named prom Queen on a Friday the 13th so now I look at it as lucky. Have a great weekend! Enjoy those minions while you have them, poor George is going to be upset when they leave. XO

    1. I think black cats are blessings. In the UK and Japan, they are thought to bring good things to their owners. Pam said she imagines your nightly ritual like mine. *wink* I think the minions might be here to stay. HUGS.

  7. I need to do the breathing thing. So many benefits to this natural exercise. I love reading in bed but only get to read about one page before the sandman sprinkles sand in my eyes.

I love that cool yoga cat. (I'm not one for superstitions) but I am more aware of safety on Friday the 13th.

    1. Breathing is so imporatnt, and controled breathing is therapeutic. I think it would help you, especially with your knowledge of health and meditation. HUGS, my dear friend.

  8. Happy Birthday to Bill. TW is going to having to remember your tip about deep breathing now that her subsidized health care will be taken away. We respectfully have to disagree with #2. Resistance brings change with it. Resistance to British rule is what led our nation into being independent.

    1. I understand what you mean aboutthe Brits. But, resistance did not win our Independence. Action did.

  9. Great answers. I've been staying up later than planned reading "The Lies of Locke Lamora". Happy Birthday to Bill; so glad he's got decent sounding employers and colleagues. That's so good to know. Thank you for not typing 'Canadian' geese. That mistake drives me nuts, almost as much as the dangling participles encountered everywhere on a daily basis. ~sigh~ Your grammar, editing, and artistry are all awesome, my dear. I hope you're having a wonderful day.

  16. As always, your completions are well thought out and perfect. Totally agree with all of them. Used a minion meme today just for you. Wish Bill a happy birthday from me. Sounds like the minions are definitely planning on taking up permanent residence with you. The bed cartoon looks like our house, minus the dog. Sending lots of love, hugs and prayers, your friend Janet

  17. My free time used to be spent on reading ... and more reading. But when I took up blogging, I read less ... and the more I blog, the less I read. I haven't finished a book in almost a year and I definitely feel the loss acutely. Also, reading is the perfect time for kitty cuddles ... Bear never could resist :)

  20. Firstly, Happy Birthday to BILL!

I love your fill-ins and I am in agreement with each one. I particularly agree with the second one. The unceasing hatred and vileness in that movement make me cringe each day.

  21. I hope that Bill is having a great birthday weekend. Happy birthday, Bill!

Bird watching is great for lowering blood pressure, too. :)

Your kitty images are great. I especially love the little attitude kitty...so cute!

    Have a blessed weekend.

  22. The mom agrees...politics and politicians have been a huge disappointment lately. Thinks need to change.

Happy Birthday to Bill! We hope you have a great weekend celebrating.

  23. Stop and breathe - something that I recommend to patients regularly. We both have politicians - not a surprise really as they can be so disappointing. I so love the sound of your reading environment - total bliss, and I love the artwork you chose to illustrate it.
Thanks for the prompts and have a lovely week.
