Parts is Parts

The shine has dulled just a bit on the "New Year". Our "blogging break" was not intentional. While we had some things scheduled to post, we have been a bit scarce. Now, I am trying to

Bill is back on the road, battling weather and roads. He is pretty amazing. I could not do what he does. But, I have been busy in his absence and wish he were here.

My dryer quietly passed away on January 1st. It is barely three years old. The technician came out on January 2nd, but was unable to resuscitate it. So, he had to order a new motor. This gives thought to the old adage, "Parts is parts."  It is not quite accurate in all situations.

While my dryer was having part's issues, Kenzie was, too. Also on January 1st, it seems she may have passed a kidney stone. She seems better, but, she is now being closely monitored for kidney/urinary function. It is too soon to be sure exactly what is happening. Kenzie will be eleven on February 9. Prayers are appreciated.

So, we are working on polishing this new year. Between worn out parts and polishing my slightly tainted new year, I have been a little busy. The blog break was unintentional. Thanks for sticking with me. I will be around in the next day or so to catch up with what I can. I do not give up easily. As Bill says, "The impossible just takes a little longer."

  3. Oh dear Annie, I'm so sorry about this big bump in the New Year but that how it goes sometime. I hope all this will come to pass and everything will be OK. I'll be praying for Kenzie. I've been burning the candle at both ends during these frigid temperatures and I'm pretty tired. Hopefully the weather will warm up for a few days and hopefully we will get back running water in my part of the barn.

    Hang in there sweet friend.
    Hugs, Julia

  6. Ugh, sorry to hear about your dryer needing parts so soon. We've fixed and then replaced the pump on our not-too-old wash machine twice last year. They just don't last as long as they used to. Hopefully Kenzie won't have any long-term kidney health issues. Paws crossed.

  8. Sending prayers and hugs for Kenzie and hope for a speedy recovery. Our dryer is 15 yrs old and still going (knocking on wood). In fact it has outlasted the washer, which they were bought at the same time. Go figure. Sending peace and light to you and yours.

  11. Annie,

No worries. Sometimes it's necessary to take a break. Everyone's done it at one point, planned or unplanned. Your friends will always been around.

I don't know how anyone can drive a big truck for a living but am grateful there are those like your Bill who does this. I couldn't do it, either. Appliances are squirrely things. All of ours are so old and I'm fearful one or more will go out at the same time. It's always a headache to figure out what's wrong, order the part, install, and cross fingers hoping the repair fixes the issue. However, I'm certain when next any of ours go, it'll be the curb it goes and a new one in its place.

I'm sorry to hear about poor Kenzie's health. I certainly will say a prayer for her. She's old an old gal, isn't she? I guess she's 77 years old in people years, huh?

Again, no worries or hurries with your visits. I more than understand. Be well and happy new year to you, my friend. God's blessings to you always!

  12. I'm sorry about your dryer. Appliances have a mind of their own and when they are done, they are done.

I'm so happy you had so much time with Bill during the holidays. That made me smile.

Have a fabulous day. Big hugs. ♥

  14. Hugs and prayers for all of you, and may Kenzie remain healthy. Years ago a minor part broke on our washing machine. The repairman told us then to hang onto our units as long as possible because the build quality had lowered so much. I try to treat them gently. ~grin~ Tell Bill to please stay safe!

  18. "The impossible just takes a little longer." Love this quote. It would make a great Spark. I am so sorry about Kenzie. I hope the vet visit will give you a better idea as to what is happening so you can get the necessamry treatment for her. I will add her to my prayer list. Neither of our years have started out very well, so it can only get better fro here. Right? Sending lots of love and warm hugs, Janet
